PURPOSE
You are kindly invited to the prize-winning awareness-raising competition, which will be held as part of the EWWR - European Week for Waste Reduction 2024 (The European Week for Waste Reduction; https://ewwr.eu/project/).
At Tehno park Celje and Simbio Celje, we are aware of the importance of raising awareness among the community about their attitude towards food and the environmental, economic and social impact of discarded food waste. Food waste has direct consequences in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
“A third of all food produced for human consumption is thrown away globally. The vast majority of food waste is generated in households (more than half of the food waste produced), in the catering industry (restaurants, catering) and in retail (supermarkets, shops). Food waste refers to all food (including beverages) and related inedible parts removed from the human food supply chain in the following sectors: food production, food retail/grocery, catering and households.”
