The POP Science Project
Launched in February 2025, the POP Science Project aims to reduce brain drain and strengthen the scientific culture in Slovenia. The project brings together four key organizations in the fields of science, education, and technology:
-
ASEF (American Slovenian Education Foundation): connects Slovenian researchers around the world and provides access to international opportunities;
-
European Cultural and Technological Center Maribor (EKTC Maribor): a social enterprise engaged in non-formal education and the promotion of science among youth;
-
Slovenian Artificial Intelligence Society (SLAIS): promotes research and the transfer of artificial intelligence into technology and industry;
-
Slovenian Society INFORMATIKA (SDI): operates in the fields of computer science and information technologies.
Over the next two years, the project will implement the following activities:
-
conduct analyses and research to improve tailored approaches to science popularization;
-
establish a digital portal to facilitate collaboration among researchers, young people, and industry;
-
organize educational activities, such as workshops, competitions, and mentoring;
-
host a national science festival to increase interest in science among young people;
-
facilitate networking and advocacy initiatives aimed at enhancing the status of science in Slovenia.
The POP Science Project strives to improve the accessibility of scientific content, connect researchers with youth, and contribute to the development of an innovative environment in the country.
